An interactive educational resource for teachers presenting the pioneer past using original every day artifacts of the type which would have been used by the pioneers. Available through costumed visits to schools (Outreach) within 150 kms of Auckland, New Zealand.
An interactive presentation to link the Social Studies processes of inquiry, values exploration, social decision making and developments in technology over time.
Original 19th and early 20th Century household items are shown, demonstrated and explained to students.
Some artifacts can be handled to enable children to interpret the past.
Food for Thought enables students to gain an understanding of life in Pioneer times, life before electricity, life in great grandparents time, now and then .....
The activity takes approximately 40 minutes
Questions are encouraged during and after the presentation.
